8.1 Introduction + Learning Objectives

This module covers intermediate tools in excel that can help you analyze and visualize data.

The focus here is on graphs, charts, and highlighting that automatically updates as you make decisions or filter material.

This can be useful when working with community partners or with members of a team. While the initial set up is a bit longer than simply creating a pivot table, tools like pivot charts and slicers can allow other members of your team to understand the data through a simple to use interface.

In this section of the course you’ll learn to:

    • Create dynamic labels and highlighting that reflect changes in value using the ifs and text functions
    • Create a dynamic butterfly chart to show multiple patterns simultaneously.
    • Use slicers to automatically adjust data in a pivot chart
    • Force pivot tables to include blank entries
    • Standardize the axis of multiple pivot tables so they can be compared against one another
